An easygoing, approachable red from the lovely Tavares da Silva extended family and their vineyards in the Lisboa region.

Castelão is the most widely planted red grape variety in Portugal, and is subject to a variety of interpretations depending on where it is grown and what the winery producing it wants to achieve. Chocapalha is made by Sandra Tavares da Silva from family vineyards north of Lisbon. The style here is medium in body, with bright red fruit suggesting ripe cherries, moderate tannins and an understated use of oak. It is a versatile partner on the dinner table, particularly with a slight chill on the bottle.
