2019 Vineyard 29 "Cru" Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California (750ml)

This 2016 'Cru' is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, and was aged for 17 months in 50% new French oak barrels. As with the 2013 vintage, the finished wine is a fine example of the excellent 2016 vintage which Keith Emerson, Director of Winemaking for Vineyard 29, Aida and Cru, exclaims was "in a word, ideal."

Early rains in late winter helped alleviate the drought stress from previous years, followed by perfect weather throughout the rest of the growing season. As Keith explains, "this allowed for even ripening with deep flavor development and luscious tannin profiles. Here is how he describes the wine, "Deep violet-blue in hue, our 2016 Cru Cabernet Sauvignon opens with notes of black fruits, creamy mocha and the slightest hint of cherry cola. A velvety textured palate is generously packed with cassis, black tea, juniper berry and cardamom – all of which carry through a long and silky finish. Firm, but lively and supple tannins, shape this full bodied Cabernet while great acidity and a burst of violets keep it approachable and fresh."
