2019 Duckhorn Merlot, Three Palms Vineyard, Napa Valley, California (750ml)

The Merlot that started it all...the 1978 Three Palms Vineyard Merlot effectively launched Duckhorn Vineyards as a serious Napa Valley producer to watch. Thirty plus years later, the Three Palms Vineyard Merlot is still one of the most coveted wines in the Duckhorn portfolio and continues to produce an outstanding bottle from this historic, picturesque vineyard.

This 2017 vintage is a blend of 91% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc,1% Petit Verdot; and was aged in 100% French Oak: 75% New, 25% Neutral, aged for 18 months. Renee Ary was officially promoted as head winemaker for Duckhorn's estate wines this same vintage year, describes it saying, "This classic expression of Three Palms Vineyard Merlot displays beautiful layers of dense dark red fruit, cedar, graphite and cream, as well as hints of wet river rock. Pure and polished on the palate, the rich flavors are underscored by firm, structured tannins and subtle sweet oak that will ensure that this stunning Merlot ages wonderfully for years to come."
