2019 Alex Foillard Brouilly, Beaujolais, France (750ml)   

In the Beaujolais region, the last name Foillard is held in the highest esteem. Jean Foillard helped to bring Morgon to its highest levels and exemplify the concepts of low intervention (natural) wines. His son, Alex Foillard has continued this legacy, further south in Brouilly.

The area typically produces a softer style of Gamay compared to some of its northern neighboring crus. However, Alex proves you can create some structured long lived wines from Brouilly. The grapes for this wine come from La Folie (Madness), a steep vineyard just above Reverdon. Red berry and minerality drive this nuanced Beaujolais.
