2019 Bodegas Ercavio Rosado, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla, Spain

Sixty miles east of Toledo, the Ercavio vineyards sit at 750 meters above sea level and enjoy a continental climate that brings very cold, dry winters and hot summers. The high altitude also means the vines experience a significant diurnal shift from hot summer days to cool nights. This allows the grapes to attain appropriate ripeness levels yet also maintain good acidity levels, making for focused and balanced wines.

This deliciously crisp Rosé is a shining example of the Ercavio terroir and the winemaking genius of Margarita, Gonzalo and Alexandra – that they could make such an excellent Rosé for only $13 is impressive indeed. As the pale, light pink color suggests, the nose tends towards more delicate aromas of white peach, orange blossom, honeysuckle and even Dapple Dandy pluot (hybrid of apricot and plum). The aromas continue as flavors on the light bodied palate which also takes on a faint note of under ripe strawberry. The finish is clean and refreshing and will make you want to just keep sipping and sipping and sipping away.
