NV First Drop Wines ‘The Red One,’ South Australia (750ml)

A totally quaffable, affable, laughable ;>) red blend of Syrah and Grenache from friends "Down Under."

The producer notes ~ And here’s our blending equation: + Shiraz – red fruits, spice and all things nice + Grenache – juicy cherry fruit and lift + Cool fermentation + ‘Sur lie’ maturation palate. – 285m above sea level on clay over limestone Matthew and Jono’s Grenache vineyard is at Ebenezer in the north of the Barossa - 300m above sea level on deep red clay Joel’s Moscatel vineyard is in the east of the Barossa up at Wilton in Eden Valley – 550m above sea level on clay over ironstone and quartz The fruit is crushed/destemed and fermented at temperatures ranging from 20-25°C for 8 days on skins. The ferment is managed by a variety of techniques, including ‘aerative pump overs’ and ‘drain and returns’ which assist in extracting drained/pressed, and transferred to a combination French oak hogsheads and puncheons to undergo MLF. Post MLF, sulphur dioxide is added, and the wines mature sur lie for 17 months. This wine was bottled in August 2018.
