What was to be only a career reset year interning at a Sicilian vineyard, lead Dan Petroski to make a significant change in his professional path. After returning to the US, instead of re-establishing himself in New York City, he worked a year at DuMOL, and met his wine making mentor.

Dan was asked to join Larkmead – a vineyard making highly regarded Cabernet Sauvignon, eventually rising to head wine maker.

Dan saw a disconnect between California cuisine which is fresh and bright, and the big bold hedonistic red wines that are often favored here. He wanted to drink the bright fresh minerally white wines he loved drinking in Italy.

Massican takes the best of what California vineyards have to offer and approaches the winemaking with a Mediterranean flair. Modern and spirited white wines that are perfect for every day.

Dan has long been ‘’the guy” to talk to about environmental issues in Napa. He takes his commitment to climate and sustainable farming practices in the wine industry to the Executive Committee of Napa Valley Grape Growers.

“We should be drinking wine differently here”, as Dan says, and Massican produces the wines so we can.
