Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC, Emilia Romagna, Italy (750ml)

Widely considered the most iconic and revered producer of Lambrusco, Cleto Chiarli was founded in 1860 and was the first wine-producing company in Emilia-Romagna. The pioneer of Lambrusco, the winery remains under family management with fourth generation brothers Mauro and Anselmo now leading the business.

In 2016 Cleto Chiarli started a collaboration with local farmers in the Castelvetro area that have long embraced organic viticulture practices. These individuals are members of the Cantina Sociale di Settecani, with whom Chiarli has been partners with for many years prior to this project. Chiarli supervises and controls the quality of the farming and viticultural practices of the vineyards. The grapes are brought to Cleto Chiarli at the time of harvest and the Chiarli winemaking team proceeds with vinification. This fine, artisanal Lambrusco is made from Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro grapes. Dark purple, it pours with a frothy mousse that falls back fast. Fruity aromas of plums and prunes on the nose carry over intact on the palate with a fizzy mouthfeel.
