Meet John Lockwood...once an apprentice to a master guitar builder, he put his hands to excellent use in the vineyards in California in 2004 at Heron Lake Vineyard with David Mahaffey. Then he worked with Ted Lemon at Littorai and at Bodega Melipal in Argentina. Following those stints, he worked with Ehren Jordan at Failla Wines for five years, where he farmed and managed the Sonoma Coast and Russian River estate vineyards. He started his own small project Enfield Wine Co. in 2010 while still working at Failla, but by 2013 he was ready to embark on his own full-time business.
 

The goal at Enfield Wine Company is to remain true to the soil and to work with vineyards that produce wines with a distinctive sense of place. John only works with independent growers and small vineyards, which he believes maintain a greater integrity of the terroir. By keeping close control of the vineyards, he is able to native ferment, consistent with his commitment to emphasize terrior. John speaks of his wines as anything from “fresh, mineral driven everyday wines, to quirky ‘off the beaten path’ vineyards and varietals, and age-worthy wines of elegance and power from classic regions of California. Each has its own story to tell”.
