2020 Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California (750ml)

Spottswoode is one of Napa Valley's most legendary estates with a history going back to the 1800s. It would be considered a 'First Growth' if California used the French rating system for vineyards as they do in Bordeaux. And like wines from the great Bordeaux Chateaux, Spottswoode's Cabernet Sauvignons age beautifully, and really need time in bottle to settle down and show their purity and grace.

The Lyndenhurst Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes grown in their Estate Vineyard blended with those from other acclaimed family-owned vineyards. To call this a second label of Spottswoode isn’t quite fair, it’s such a well-made, thoughtfully considered wine in its own right. It's aged 20 months (new 57%), French oak barrels 96%, & Hungarian oak barrels 4%. The blend is, 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, 6% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot & 2% Cabernet Franc. Tasting notes from Spottswoode: Notes of raw fresh blackberries, crushed graphite, cassis, baking spices, and cocoa powder. Beautifully structured tannnis lead to while floral notes of violets and laurel perfume in the glass.
