After years of painstaking work in the region’s vineyards, Emile Paris decided to bottle Champagne under his own name in 1884. Located in the commune of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, just outside of Epernay, the Emile Paris brand was built on strict adherence to tradition and quality standards.

The lovely and sweet Delphine Vesselle now runs the estate with her husband, David, after her father Jean's passing. She takes great pride in her family's 300 year history in Champagne and she strives to honor her father's memory and the wonderful domaine he established.

This is a fun sparkling wine blend of Ugni Blanc, Chardonnay and Airen (an ancient Spanish varietal). It is fruity and clean with nice finishing acidity and is a great deal for only $9 a bottle!
N.V. Pascal Doquet "Arpege" Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut, Champagne, France (750ml)
About the Icons
The grapes for this Blanc de Blancs, or 100% Chardonnay, come from Pascal Doquet's vines in Vertus, Villeneuve and Mont Aimé, 62% from the 2010 harvest and 38% from the 2011 harvest. It was bottled in March of 2012 and disgorged in April of 2015 with 5 grams per liter dosage, making it an Extra Brut, or very dry Champagne.

The Diebolt and Vallois families have a distinguished history in the Côte des Blancs. The Vallois family has been growing vines in Cuis since the 15th century; the grandfather of current proprietor Jacques Diebolt began making estate bottled champagne at the beginning of the 20th century.

The Palomino grapes that went into this Amontillado or medium dry Sherry come from sustainably farmed vineyards between 10 and 60 years old.

This lovely Oloroso Sherry comes from a 15 year solera. It shows great texture and nuance with all the medium richness one looks for in an Oloroso but with added elegance and complexity. Aromas and flavors of nuts (think hazelnuts dipped in a thin layer of dark chocolate) and exotically fragrant spices grace the generous palate.

A Monthly Wine Club Selection
While it’s a little counterintuitive to assume that these two completely distinct and assertive varietals would go together, the combination works surprisingly well! This lively blend is bursting with heady aromas of orchard fruit and jasmine. On the palate, the citrus-leaning and herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc helps to tame the opulent floral quality of the Moschofilero, yet does not overwhelm its lovely charm. A racy acidity cuts through the subtle richness in the wine, with notes of lemon icebox pie, honeysuckle, rose water and citrus zest leading to the crisp, clean finish.
