2020 Domaine de la Bouissiere Cotes du Rhone, Rhone Valley, France (750ml)
About the Icons
This enchanting Côtes du Rhône blend is sourced from 30+-year-old vines from the southeast facing estate vineyards (sitting at 1,050 feet altitude), with soils that are a mix clay and limestone, and from a selection of declassified, younger-vine fruit from plots in the Beaumes de Venise AOC. The grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed and lightly crushed, before being fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled cement tanks. The wines was aged in cement tank and moved via gravity, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur addition. We have used previous vintages of this fine Côtes du Rhône and it has always been a big hit ~

About the Icons
A Quarterly Red Cellar Trio Wine Club Selection
Made from 100% organically-farmed Sangiovese fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled, glass-lined cement vats. The must underwent a five-week maceration on the skins. The resulting wine was aged for 24 months in large Slovenian oak barrels and an additional 12 months in the bottle before being released. Dark garnet color. Complex, layered aromas of dark berries and black cherries with notes of fennel and dusty earth. The palate is dry with flavors of brandied cherries, blueberry chutney and dark chocolate. It is structured wine with firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, spiced finish.

2017 Il Carpino Ribolla Gialla, Collio, Friuli, Italy (750ml)
About the Icons
This Ribolla Gialla is an "orange wine", having spent some 80 days in contact with the skins. The technique gives white wines more of the texture on the palate of a red wine, and diminishes the impression of acidity. It also deepens the color, and contributes a range of slightly oxidative flavors that suggest citrus rind, blood orange and spice. Some orange wines can be quite funky as well. This Ribolla Gialla is not.
2017 Quinta da Romaneira Petit Verdot, IGP Duriense, Portugal (750ml)
About the Icons
A Red Cellar Trio Wine Club Selection
An old estate with a long history, Quinta da Romaneira began producing port in 1872, but was not legally allowed to bottle under its own name until 1986 when DO changes gave single quintas the ability to do so. Romaneira really became of note in 2004, when the new owner, Christian Seely brought on winemaker Antonio Agrellos. The duo (behind the much-celebrated rebirth of Quinta do Noval) took over with plans to bring Romaneira “shoulder to shoulder with the Douro’s top wineries in terms of reputation and quality.” Since then, the vineyards have been overhauled, retaining the best old vines and implementing a replanting program for the rest. In 2005 a new winery was constructed—two-thirds of it underground—allowing for a state-of-the-art production facility and a naturally cool wine cellar.
2017 Robert Sinskey "POV" Los Carneros, Napa Valley, California (750ml)
About the Icons
POV is a blend of three classic Bordeaux grape varietals, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown on the Robert Sinskey certified organic estate vineyards at the southern end of Napa Valley. This 2017 was aged for 19 months in 30% new French oak barrels and is a great expression of that quality Sinskey fruit as well as Robert's impressive blending skills. As he says, "the wine has a deep, dark purple hue that telegraphs its impressive nature as the aromas and flavors of macerated berries (strawberries, blue/blackberries, and cherries), are backed by notes of bay leaf and fennel seed.
2017 Vignerons Les Matheny Chardonnay, Cotes du Jura, France (750ml)
About the Icons
Quite a few parcels comprise Les Matheny’s Chardonnay. Emeric vinifies each one separately, deciding on the final blend only after each individual wine develops its personality with time in barrel. Tasting Notes: Produced from vines averaging 45 years of age, the wine soars from the glass, a storm of ripe green apples, freshly blasted quarry, and musky honey. The palate is both firm and expansive, with a generous pinch of telltale Jurassic salt lengthening the complex, penetrating flavors of greengage and candied lemon. Emeric’s “partial sous-voile” approach shows in the wine’s gently oxidative edge—one that bows to the veil without making a virtue of it. For such a bold and assertive wine to remain so straightforwardly delicious is a difficult balancing act.
2017-C Lornano Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, Tuscany, Italy (750ml)
About the Icons
A Quarterly Red Cellar Trio Wine Club Selection
Brick red. Classic aromas of crushed rock, fresh red berries and exotic spice. The palate exhibits rich fruit flavors of ripe red and black plums, bramble fruit and berry compote, with notes of cigar box and dusty earth. The palate is artfully balanced, with fresh acidity and a long and expressive finish. A prime example of when Riserva Chianti really starts drinking well, and starting to show the benefits of extended bottle ageing.

2018 Christophe Billon Cote Rotie "Brocarde", Rhone Valley, France (750ml)
About the Icons
A very rich and deeply flavored Northern Rhone red. The Syrah was co-fermented with 3% Viognier, an approach which adds aromatic lift to the nose and softens the tannins a bit. Cellar-worthy for 10-20 years with the promise of greater complexity in time. Christophe Billon farms 10 hectares of vines in Côte Rotie, Condrieu and VdP Colline Rhodanniennes. The average vine age in the Côte Roties is 30 years, but the oldest block was planted by his grandfather in 1942.
2018 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California (750ml)
About the Icons
Rick Forman has been crafting suberb wine in Napa Valley since the mid 1970's, and has been one of the region's most consistent winemakers for decades. Over the course of his career he has stayed true to his vision and convictions, making wines that have structure, precision and elegance. They typically develop very well in the cellar, and reward the patient. We think of Rick as being in the same league as Philip Togni, Cathy Corison, the late Bob Travers, the late Bob Sessions, and a handful of others whose winemaking careers have left or continue to make a significant mark on the industry. Others have bent a knee to the score mongers, or played footsie with the wine press for more notoriety. Not Rick. Not Forman. ~ Peter Granoff, Master Sommelier
