Joel started Ravenswood in 1976 with the focus of making Zinfandel from old vine parcels throughout Sonoma and Contra Costa Counties, and was the first winemaker to vineyard-designate Zinfandel in California.

A Red Cellar Trio Wine Club Selection
100% dry-farmed Syrah grapes were sourced from a single vineyard, “Les Planels” La Livinière. The fruit was hand-harvested, destemmed and fermented for 8 days in concrete and wood open-top foudres. The wine benefitted from an extended maceration with pump-over for 4 weeks, before being basket-pressed. The finished wine saw no aging and was stabilized and filtered before immediate bottling with no added sulfites. The color is deep purple. The nose is delicate with aromas of black fruit and a touch of earthiness. The palate is beautifully concentrated and earthy, with flavors of blackberry, cassis and a hint of garrigue. The finish is lush, languid, with a wonderful spice note.

From the winery: Filled with zest and juiciness, Barbera satisfies much of northern Italy's thirst for a delicious daily drinker. After fermentation in large-format oak casks and stainless steel, ours ages for a few brief months before early spring bottling.

From the producer: Likely the most “Outré Vin” in the lineup, a vinous Californian pastiche inspired by our reverence of the wines of the French Alps - Trousseau Noir, Poulsard, Gamay Noir, and yes (untraditionally) some old vine Valdiguié as well.
2019 Matthiasson Chardonnay, Linda Vista Vineyard, Napa Valley, California (750ml)
Steve Matthiasson just has a knack for crafting clean, cool wines with lots of personality at very reasonable price points given their excellent quality. This is a Chardonnay drinker's Chardonnay that will equally appeal to fans of lighter bodied and crisp whites.
N.V. Billecart-Salmon Blanc de Blancs, Champagne, France (750ml)
This cuvée is a blend of two different years revealing the special quality of the Chardonnay. Its complexity, its great vinosity and the surprisingly fresh finish is particularly appreciated by the most informed wine lovers. The Blanc de Blancs features 100% Chardonnay from Grands Crus de villages de la Côte des Blancs : Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, & Mesnil-sur-Oge. Notes of warm bread, lemon cream & crisp green apple on the nose. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and very elegant, with a lovely core of fruit, refined mousse and excellent length and grip on the well-balanced, youthful and classy finish.

Glenelly Estate is located on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch. Originally granted to a French Huguenot by Cape Governor Simon van der Stel in the late seventeenth century, it was purchased in 1865 by a British family, who ran the estate as a fruit farm for 138 years. In 2003, a new chapter in the history of Glenelly began, when the property was acquired by May-Eliane de Lencquesaing.

This wine is meaty, deep, and dark in color. It is a tannic, complex wine with rich fruit characteristics of black cherry and plum compote, accented by hints of licorice and fennel. The finish is long and lingering.
2014 Guiborat Prisme.14 Grand Cru Champagne, France (750ml)
The Fouquets farm 8 hectares, most of which are grand cru holdings from the deep chalk of Cramant and Chouilly, as well as vineyards in Mardeuil on the other side of Epernay. The domaine’s overall production is tiny, as grapes from 5 of these 8 hectares are regularly sold to the Champagne house of Laurent Perrier.

Started in 2006 by brothers Toni and Miquel, Coca i Fitó is a dynamic winery with its foundation in Montsant. The brothers’ projects have become increasingly diverse, expanding into multiple regions throughout Spain.

This crémant has a pale golden hue. It has soft, appealing, floral aromatics with notes of fresh peaches. The palate is succulent, with flavors of golden plum, under ripe stone fruit and a hint of toasted hazelnut with an effervescent finish. Enjoy!
2017 Josep Foraster Blanc Seleccio, Conca de Barbera, Spain (750ml)
The family Foraster has been growing grapes in Conca de Barbera for over 150 years. In 1998 Julieta and his son Ricard embarked on their dream of taking over the family winery and started making wines focusing on local varieties. Mas Foraster produces wines from estate fruits only practicing organic farming.

This classic Rioja has a beautiful garnet robe and a deceptively subtle nose showing soft blackberry fruit, dusty earth and a hint of spice. The complex palate shows boysenberry, black cherry and red currant with a hint of cacao, firm tannins and a beautiful herbal note. A delightful wine, very well balanced, the acid supports a rather long, fruited finish.

This family estate is surrounded by vineyards overlooking the charming village of Verdigny, and offers stunning views of the famous Sancerre hill. For generations the Reverdy family has cultivated this 15 hectare vineyard. Today Jean-Marie Reverdy manages the flourishing Domaine de la Villaudière with his wife, Catherine and their son Guillaume, now the winemaker. Their youngest son, Baptiste, also shares a love of wine, and plans to play his part in the family business when his studies are finished.

Pinot Grigio is a fairly misunderstood grape in America owing to the many watered down, mass-produced versions that have infiltrated our grocery stores and chain restaurants since the 1980’s. While the grape has unfortunately become synonymous with simplicity, this lovely, expressive style from Cantina Valle Isarco in Alto Adige is far from bland. The grapes for this wine were delicately crushed, and then fermented on lees in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, which resulted in an exciting and vibrant white wine.

What strikes you when you first experience Burgundy from Michel Ecard is the undeniable sensation that this is the sort of Burgundian Pinot Noir for which you’ve been searching all along. The wines are upfront and honest, captivating and convincing — truly how handmade, small-batch Burgundy should be. There are few other Burgundy villages that consistently offer such quality-for-value like Savigny-lès-Beaune, and few winemakers in this village that deliver such quality every vintage like Michel Ecard. His well-balanced wines are not only deliciously complex but also age beautifully, a rare trait for Burgundy so reasonably priced.

This charming Petit Chablis is 100% Chardonnay. It was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and inoculated by a selected yeast. The wine saw partial malolactic fermentation and was aged in tank. The resulting wine was cold-stabilized and gently filtered before bottling. This wine has a bright yellow gold color. It’s nose exhibits slight floral aromas and fresh white fruits. The lively palate shows lemon pith, green and yellow apple, and wet stone. The finish is bright and very refreshing, and it begs for oysters!

When the Seghesio family sold its namesake winery in 2011, the historic San Lorenzo vineyard was not included in the sale of the winery. Pete inherited that 40-acre vineyard from his mother, Rachel Ann Passalacqua Seghesio, and it has been part of the Passalacqua family heritage since 1896.

Deep purple with a magenta rim, and a heady aroma of spice and dark fruit. The palate reflects the nose with blackberry, blueberry, and ripe black plum. This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc produced from 25-year-old vines. The grapes were hand-harvested, carefully sorted and gently pressed. The must was cold-fermented in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tank and aged on its fine lees. The resulting wine was gently filtered prior to bottling. Fresh and focused, it shows refreshing aromas and flavors of tart citrus fruit, candied grapefruit, with hints of celery leaf and nettle.

Cyprus is one the oldest wine making countries, with a wine history that dates back 5,500 years. The wine made at the time was called Nama of Cyprus. It became famous with European aristocracy during the Middle Ages, but with the name given by the Knights of Templar: Commandaria.

Orangetraube is a rare golden yellow and aromatic white grape variety that is most often found in Austrian field blends. The grapes' skin takes on a slightly orange tint when fully ripe, hence the name Orangetraube, which literally translates to "Orange Grape." The Orange “T” presents juicy and refreshing under-ripe peach and apricot stone fruit, with a subtle minerality. The wine's fine acidity is well-balanced and beautifully integrated.

One cool, Spring day in the shadow of Mt. Konocti, a family came to lay out their vineyard using straws to mark where the vines would be planted. While enjoying their midday lunch they saw a murder of crows dancing around the straws, which made them laugh. Yet, when they looked again, the crows and the straws were gone. The family learned two things that day: be wary of dancing crows, and what to name their vineyard ;>).

Saint Roch les Vignes is not an individual domaine, but rather a modern production facility in Cuers serving most of the family winegrowers in that small hillside village. Built in 1911 with the combined effort and assets of 143 growers, the winery was upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment in recent years and now handles vinification for more than 200 local vignerons.
